Chilean mezzo-soprano Camila Aguilera will appear as Kate in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance at the Volksoper Wien in early 2027. Further highlights of the season include performances of Verdi’s Requiem at the Berliner Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus Freiburg, before returning to her native Chile to perform Prince Orlofskyin Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago.

Recent highlights include Sesto in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito at MuTh Wien, Kate in Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Annina in La Traviata, Mercédès in Carmen, Venus in Offenbach's Orphée aux Enfers and Flamma in Le Voyage dans la Lune at the Volksoper Wien, as well as appearances in Wagner's Parsifal at Halle E, MuseumsQuartier Wien. Upcoming engagements include Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Nicklausse in Les Contes d'Hoffmann and Verdi's Requiem at the Philharmonie Berlin and Konzerthaus Freiburg.

Camila Aguilera Yáñez is a Chilean mezzo-soprano based in Vienna and a member of the Volksoper Wien Opernstudio. Recognized for her musical versatility and compelling stage presence, she has quickly established herself as one of the most promising young singers of her generation.

Her recent engagements include Kate in The Pirates of Penzance, Sesto in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Annina in La Traviata, Mercédès in Carmen, Venus in Offenbach’s Orpheus in der Unterwelt, and Sandmännchen in Hänsel und Gretel at the Volksoper Wien. Future engagements include Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus and Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago.

Alongside her operatic work, Camila is an active concert performer with a repertoire ranging from Bach’s Matthäus-Passion and cantatas to Händel’s Messiah, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Gloriaand Verdi’s Messa da Requiem. Highlights of the 2027 season include performances of Verdi’s Requiem at the Philharmonie Berlin and Konzerthaus Freiburg.

A graduate of the Universidad Alberto Hurtado in Santiago de Chile, Camila was a member of the Ibáñez-Atkinson Young Artist Program at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago before joining the Opernstudio of the Volksoper Wien. She has worked with conductors including Alexander Joel, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Paolo Bortolameolli, Michael Papadopoulos and Tobias Wögerer, and has participated in masterclasses with artists such as Helmut Deutsch, Rosemary Joshua, Sophie Koch and Maurizio Colacicchi.

Fluent in Spanish and English, she also works in Italian and German and continues to expand a repertoire that spans Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Bizet, Strauss, Wagner and contemporary works.
